GETTING clean water to drink from our taps these days is no longer viable as our water supply is not crystal clear any more.
Sometimes, the water that comes out from our taps are milky brown. That's why every house in the Klang Valley has opted to fix a water filter or purifier unit in order to ensure clean drinking water for the whole family.
There are many brands of water purifying units in the market. One of them is Woongjin Coway, a household name in Korea.
Coway offers several models of water purifier, depending on the needs of the consumers. Among them are the basic Value; Metro for big capacity usage; Apolo for outdoor filtering; Petit for small family; March for the entire family; and Sally which is slim and compact.

The unit also comes with the safety features such as the hot water locking button and alarm device. When this device is activated, the hot water will not flow from the dispenser even when it is pressed and the alarm will be trigger immediately. This is a precaution to prevent the children from pressing the sensor button.
Petit also comes with a power saving night mode to save electricity consumption. The built-in microprocessor changes the operation mode depending on the surrounding light intensity and the water temperature in order to reduce energy consumption.
To ensure clean and save water for drinking, the water purification system comprises a six-step filtration flow process to ensure the water purity.
The first step is the neo-sense filter which removes particles, soluble contaminants, free chlorine and volatile organic compounds from the water.
Next is the RO (reverse osmosis) membrane filter which removes contaminants such as heavy metals, waterbourne microorganisms and harmful organic chemicals.
The third is inno-sense filter which reduces odours and improves the water tastes. Lastly, the cermic filter will prevent growth of microorganisms in water to ensure that it is safe for drinking even without boiling.
The unit also comes in an air-tight tank to keep it from secondary contamination caused by dust, ants and other substances.
To prevent water overflow, there is a safety block with double air bladders to act as dual water level controller. And to deliver the best possible water temperature, a special micro-controller monitors the whole water purification process at all times.
The unit's stability is further enhanced by a control feature that prevents overheating and overcooling. Also in the case of low water level due to water cuts, etc, the heater is stopped so that the power consumption is reduced and the stability and function of the unit is not compromised.
Overall, the Petit unit offers crystal clear water for drinking. And both the hot and cold functions are convenient to use. In fact, you don't need to worry about the water supply from the unit. As long as there is a continuous water flow from the tap, the Petit will filter the water for your daily consumption continuously. Just ensure that the red led light bar is full for hot water and the blue led light bar is full for cold or ambient water.
A unit which is just nice for a family of three or four, the Petit retails at RM3,400 and also comes with a monthly rental of RM110.
